The Eldorado National Forest will host a public meeting at the Amador Ranger District Office on Wednesday, March 8, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM to discuss the proposed Panther Fuels Reduction and Forest Health Project. This project was developed in collaboration with the Amador-Calaveras Consensus Group.  The Environmental Assessment for this project is currently open for comment.

The Panther Project proposes to reduce unnaturally high fuel loads, decrease the likelihood of future large scale wildfire, improve forest health, and maintain system roads in the area between Panther Creek Road and Ellis Road. The 5,400-acre project area is located south of Highway 88 and north of the 2004 Power Fire area in Amador County, CA. Proposed activities include strategic fuel breaks, commercial harvest units, and road maintenance and reconstruction.

For a detailed project description, including maps, and the Environmental Assessment, please visit the project website at: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=41236

The Amador Ranger District Office is located at 26820 Silver Drive, in Pioneer, CA.
