MORENO VALLEY, Calif - The next field trip and meeting of the Bureau of Land Management’s California Desert Advisory Council will be held Dec. 14-15, in Ridgecrest, California.

The DAC will participate in a field tour of BLM-managed public lands from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, and will meet at the Ridgecrest Field Office, 300 S. Richmond Road, Ridgecrest. The public is invited to participate in the Friday field tour, but must provide their own transportation and meals. On Saturday, Dec. 15, DAC members will meet in formal session from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Clarion Inn Conference Room, 901 China Lake Blvd. Ridgecrest. Final agendas for the Friday field trip and the Saturday business meeting will be posted on the BLM website at https://go.usa.gov/xPFat.

Written comments may be filed in advance of the Dec, 15, public meeting and should be addressed to the Desert DAC, c/o Bureau of Land Management, External Affairs, 22835 Calle San Juan de Los Lagos, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. Written comments also are accepted at the time of the meeting and, if copies are provided to the recorder, will be incorporated into the minutes.

All DAC meetings are open to the public. While the meeting on Dec. 15 is tentatively scheduled to conclude at 5 p.m., it could end earlier should the council complete its presentations and discussions.

Advisory councils provide advice and recommendations for the BLM to consider on resource and land management issues within the BLM. The BLM’s 38 chartered advisory councils are located in the West.  Advisory Councils are sounding boards for BLM initiatives, regulatory proposals, and policy changes. Each citizen-based council consists of 10 to 15 members from diverse interests in local communities and they assist in the development of council recommendations that address public land management issues. Advisory councils are critical in assisting the BLM in continuing to be a good neighbor in the communities that the Bureau serves.
