Re: Soda Mountain Solar Project

Dear Supervisors Ramos and Lovingood,

We are writing to urge you to request an extension of the protest period and additional public hearings on the BLM's Final EIS for the Soda Mountain Solar project (CA 49584).

San Bernardino County has long supported off highway vehicle recreation on BLM lands. OHV use by county residents is among the highest in the state, and OHV opportunities in the county attract millions of visits and contribute billions of dollars.

Notice of Proposed Legislative Withdrawal and Opportunity for Public Meeting; California (Johnson Valley OHV Area)

AGENCY: Bureau of Land Management, Interior.

ACTION: Notice of withdrawal application and segregation.

SUMMARY: The Act of February 28, 1958 (43 U.S.C. 155-158), sometimes referred to as the Engle Act, places on the Secretary of the Interior the responsibility to process Department of Defense applications for national defense withdrawals, reservations or restrictions aggregating 5,000 acres or more for any one project or facility. These withdrawals, reservations or restrictions may only be made by an act of Congress, except in time of war or national emergency declared by the President or the Congress and except as otherwise expressly provided in the Act of February 28, 1958.

IDAHO BLM TO HOST OPEN HOUSE ON NEW RESOURCE MANGEMENT PLAN

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Idaho Falls District, is preparing a new Resource Management Plan (RMP) for the Upper Snake Field Office (FO) in southeastern Idaho. The Upper Snake RMP will cover the planning areas currently managed under three management framework plans (MFPs) and one RMP: the Big Desert MFP (1981), Big Lost MacKay MFP (1983), Little Lost/Birch Creek MFP (1985), and the Medicine Lodge RMP (1985). The Upper Snake RMP will replace these four land use plans, resulting in a single RMP for the entire Upper Snake FO.

Public Invited to Provide Input for Rasor Off-Highway Vehicle Area Management Plan

BLM LogoThe Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Barstow Field Office, announced today dates, times, and locations of public meetings to allow public input in the development of the Rasor Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area Management Plan.

The goal of public input is to assess a variety of issues and proposed solutions. Comments and concerns regarding land use, off-highway vehicle area access, visitor services, off-highway vehicle recreational opportunities, facilities, resource values, and monitoring are welcomed.

BLM Proposes Fee Increases at Eastern Sierra Campgrounds

BISHOP, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management Bishop Field Office is seeking public comment on proposed fee increases at campgrounds in the eastern Sierra.

The BLM is proposing to change the fee strategy and initially increase fees for the Tuttle Creek, Goodale Creek, Horton Creek and Pleasant Valley Pit campgrounds in Inyo County and the Crowley Lake campground in Mono County.
